Whale Medicine From The Friendliest Whales In the World
Step beyond ordinary travel into a sacred encounter few ever experience.
In the salt lagoons of El Vizcaíno Biosphere Reserve, gray whales — once hunted to near extinction — now choose to approach humans with astonishing gentleness and joy. Here, you may find yourself eye-to-eye with a being of immense love… and perhaps, if you’re blessed, share a touch or a kiss with one of these gentle giants, or perhaps even a baby whale.
This exclusive 5-day journey begins in San Diego, traveling together by private van into the heart of Guerrero Negro, Baja California Sur. Along the way, you’ll be guided through workshops with intuitive activations, energy attunements, and sacred practices to align with the whales’ consciousness and receive messages directly from the whales. We will pass through the Valley of the Giants (giant cacti), gorgeous mountains, and stunning views of the Sea of Cortez.
Each day on the water invites profound transformation — a merging of soul, nature, and spirit. Evenings are dedicated to integration, rest, and channeled messages from the whales shared within our intimate pod.

This is more than a retreat — it’s a reunion of souls between humans and whales, a remembrance of peace, and a return to unity consciousness.
This expedition embarks on a journey not just through physical time and space, but a unique journey that your soul has in store for you. Something quite special, that you legally can't do anywhere else in the world. This is the only place where gray whales seek out human interaction and touch in a highly protected and monitored area known as "El Vizcaino Biosphere Reserve, Mexico - UNESCO."
This experience is even more cherished and special due to the history of the lagoons. The gray whales migrate from their feeding grounds in Alaska down to the shallow lagoons to give birth and mate. Back in the late 1800s, into the early 1900s, whalers almost killed them to extinction. These lagoons proved to be easy access and targets for the whalers. Understandably, the whales tried vehemently to protect themselves and their families from the whalers, thus earned the nickname "devilfish" for their aggressive attempts towards the boats and fisherman.
Thankfully in 1946 Mexico was the first country to put protection in place for the whales. Several decades later in 1972, local fisherman were still afraid of the whales, so when Don Pachico Mayoral was out with his friend fishing, he tried to get away from a female gray whale who was approaching his panga (boat). The whale was relentless and kept getting closer and closer, so he instinctively reached out his hand to touch her. She was very receptive, and thus he become emotional. He went back and told the whole village, "they have forgiven us." Now 4 decades later, it's a miraculous phenomenon. Many whales seek out human interaction and touch in these lagoons.
During our travels we will have some time to prepare energetically and mentally for the experiences. I will lead a workshop during portions of the drive on Intuition, Messages and Readings, and I will instruct you to begin getting messages for yourself, directly from the whales. We will do some experiential exercises and discussion as a group. Upon arrival into Guerrero Negro, we will check into the hotel rooms or airbnb, for a refresh, then enjoy dinner at a local restaurant.
The following 3 days, weather and conditions permitting, we will have our magical encounters with the majestic gray whales in the lagoons nearby. Each morning en route to the lagoons, we will have time in the van to center, receive and give attunements, to set intentions, to sync up as a pod with one another and the whales, and with our higher essence.
After the time on the water, you will have time to yourself daily to journal, shower, nap, read, etc. before we meet again for excursions and dinner. This is the perfect opportunity for integration, practice getting messages, and contemplation time to process the days events.
Each evening at dinner, you'll receive messages from the whales facilitated by me. We will incorporate the practice and sharing of each individual at their comfort, receiving and giving messages from the whales as well.

FAQ
1) Where and what time do we meet for departure from San Diego?
Central location TBD typically at a Mission Valley Hotel. We will depart at 5am
2) What time will we arrive back in San Diego on Day 5?
Typically between 6-8pm
3) Where do I fly in and out of coming to San Diego?
SAN San Diego International Airport is the closest airport.
4) I have dietary restrictions, can those be accommodated?
We will do everything we can do help you find things that work for you. However we cannot make any guarantees for that as that truly is out of our hands.
5) What's the weather like?
It is generally warm on the travel days, so comfortable clothing in layers for individual needs. On the boat, it can be cooler with wind and movement on the water. It is recommended you wear waterproof rain gear as you will get wet on this ride and it acts like a great windbreaker. Whales love to splash us a bit and sometimes a lot. You'll want to be able to put both arms in the water up to your elbows to pet and touch the whales. Slip proof and waterproof shoes are also a good idea. Hats that have tightened strings so they don't fly off, are also recommended. In town it gets cool at night with wind, so comfortable warm clothing is suggested. Temps are 50-60 degrees Fahrenheit and with wind it can feel like 40-50. It can be warmer during the day so I recommend a light layer to go on underneath your rain gear for easy base layer.
6) What else should I bring?
-Passport is mandatory. Visa may be too depending on your citizenship.
-Cash in pesos. Order from your bank ahead of time. How much? How much do you spend on food and drink when you eat out daily? Average typical meal is about $20-$25 USD or 400-500 MXN. Some slightly more, some much less. Sack lunch is provided after boat tours. Budget for souvenirs is personal preference. Gratuity for the drivers, boat captains are recommended $20-$25 USD total or 400-500MXN per day.
-Sunscreen that is reef safe. It is important we consider the whales health too. The water they live in we want to keep safe for them, and what we have on our skin gets transferred onto theirs, in their eyes, mouth, and nose, when it gets into the water as well.
-Small Waterproof bag for your camera, phone, water, passport and cash.
-Eye mask and ear plugs for the van ride and hotel rooms to ensure your comfort.
-Medications and first aid items.
-Neck pillow for the van, snacks, water bottle refillable, and a pen with journal.
-Bathing suit, flip flops, and small towel for magnesium pool soak. Most only want to soak their feet so that's up to you. It is highly concentrated magnesium that feels like oil to the touch. It cannot be ingested, it will give you terrible diarrhea because of the concentration. It is shallow, max depth is up to your knees. You can easily float, you will be extremely buoyant. The minerals and magnesium are extremely good to absorb through your skin. It can help relieve soreness, pain, inflammation, and most say they sleep like a baby that night.
-Patience and humility. We are visitors. It is the culture to slow down and be present. Restaurants, service staff, boat tours, etc. are slower and used to a different pace than many that expect instant gratification. Service may take longer, schedules may change for boat tours, so be flexible and go with the flow.
-Layers. It can get chilly on the water and in the evenings. Most hotels and airbnbs do not have heat, rare few that have a/c. This isn't the Four Seasons. It is safe, secure, and comfortable. Extra blankets are usually provided if needed. It is good to have a nice warm layer regardless.
7) Is it safe?
Safer than most US cities. There are armed guards and check stops throughout Baja that we will go through. These stops are check points that help ensure safety. When we cross the boarder, they will check vehicles, luggage, and go through all of your belongings. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO BRING ANY ILLEGAL ITEMS WITH YOU. You put us all at risk and that's completely unacceptable. I have always felt extremely safe in Baja.
8) Can we get in the water and swim with the whales?
No swimming with the whales, it is illegal and trust me you don't want to, nor do they want you to. These are 40 ton, very large whales. In very murky high saline and mineralized water. Try maneuvering your 40 ton school but size body around a bunch of flailing humans in the murky water. Not only is it dumb and extremely dangerous, but the whales flee if anyone ever falls in. Oh and did I mention illegal?
9) Life jackets required?
YES. All persons on the boat will be required to wear a life jacket at all times during the boat tour.
10) Do they speak English?
No. They speak Spanish. Download Google Translate or other AI apps so if you need to communicate you can. I speak novel Spanish and will handle all the necessary boat, hotel, and excursion communications.
11) Cell phones coverage?
International plans recommended. There are some areas that do not have coverage while we are driving. We won't have cell service while on the boat. Most hotels and airbnb have wifi. Some have starlink. Check with your service provider. I recommend little to zero phone time. You really won't have much time to work or chat for long conversations if you're trying to squeeze that in...I don't recommend.
12) ATMs?
Yes. There are a few ATMs in town if you need to get more pesos.
13) What kind of food?
Baja Mexican Cuisine. It is fresh, delicious, and wonderful. Fresh locally caught seafood and excellent meat and vegetarian dishes. There is even a few American inspired dishes as well if you must.
14) Will I get sea sick?
I haven't had a guest get sea sick yet. I recommend for the drive and the boat sea bands, the patch, or preventative medication just to be safe. But mandatory if you are prone or unsure about motion sickness.
15) How deep is the lagoon?
It changes with the tides, which are very big there. These are relatively shallow lagoons with a max depth of 40 feet.
16) Will I get to touch a whale?
I sure hope so! While it is never guaranteed to have any encounter with any wild animal, it is very likely to occur. By day 3, usually everyone has had the opportunity to have multiple touches and interactions with the whales.
17) Is there an opportunity to have more encounters with the whales?
Yes! I will be offering a second excursion daily for those who want to go back to back on whale tours with me. It is optional and will be an additional $500 for all 3 days. Reserving ahead of time is required to reserve the boats.
19) What kind of payment do you take?
CC, Venmo, Paypal, Zelle, CashApp, and Apple Pay.
20) Can I cancel, postpone, and if so do I get a refund?
Things happen. I get it. Unfortunately like all travel reservations I must pay upfront to reserve our van/driver, hotel/airbnb, and boat tours. Those reservations are all non-refundable. I highly recommend all reason travel insurance. Once you book, there are no refunds. Sometimes trips have to be cancelled due to weather or storms. That is beyond our control, non-refundable, and why you have travel insurance.
21) My question isn't here.
No problem. Email me at magicwithcherilyn@gmail.com. Call or text me at 858-205-7106 as well.
